The Incredibles

The Story: Bob Parr, a.k.a. Mr. Incredible, tries to cope as a normal civilian after he and the rest of the world's superheros are forced into retirement. When an opportunity for a some hero moonlighting turns out to be more than Bob can handle alone, his 'super' family goes on a mission to rescue him from an new evil villan.

The Incredibles is one of the best things to ever come out of Pixar Animation Studios. (Second only to Toy Story, maybe) It has action and adventure mixed perfectly with an incredibly funny wit. Its story is universal, and its characters are just so darn lovable!

Not buying it? Well, neither was Allie. She use to get really furious when ABC Family played The Incredibles because she knew it meant 2 hours of cartoon watching, and if it's not Disney, Allie doesn't want it. But then, one fateful day, that is so vividly pressed in my memory, we caught TI from the very beginning. Allie watched, at first only because she had no choice. Then something happened...a laugh. Followed by another laugh and another. Pretty soon Allie realized something that I had known for years. The Incredibles is TOTALLY WICKED! Don't believe us? Try it out for yourself, if you dare.

Eight Below

The Story: An unexpected snow storm forces an Antarctic explorer to leave his team of sled dogs to fin for themselves, and he will do whatever it takes to bring them home..

Sexy Paul Walker + the hilarious Jason Biggs + super cute snow dogs, what more could you ask for? Oh, I know, a movie actually worth watching? GOOD NEWS! Eight Below is just that.

I recently added this movie to my extensive Paul Walker collection, cause who can live without an incomplete collection? I forgot how good this movie was, and not just Paul, the whole cast, especially the cute pups, brings their A game. It's quickly becoming my first choice whenever I want to watch a movie.

Eight Below is a classic adventure movie.  It's exciting and fun. There's a big snow storm, people falling through frozen ice, and killer seals that try to eat the dogs. In addition to all that, we get a moving story of loyalty. Walker's character lives for his dogs, and he will do anything to get back to them. Finally, we get a brave story of survival as the dogs, who are used to being cared for by humans, become responsible for their own well-being .

Another plus, this movie is safe to watch with your parents and your little kids. It is 100% mother approved.

Princess Diaries 2

While I am a fan of the first Princess Diaries, this one is my favorite. I watch it every Sunday at work, seriously, EVERY Sunday. I have a problem.

The Story: Princess Mia has one month to get married or she forfeits her crown to someone else.

Don't worry, you don't have to have seen the first one to understand this movie. They do a very nice re-cap. in the opening seen.

What I love about this movie is the concept.

WARNING HERE BE SPOILERS!

Girl falls for boy while planning her wedding to someone else.

I've seen several attempts at this concept, but no one does is as good as PD2. Another plus, I don't feel like I'm watching a kids movie when this one is one. This movie has it all, great story, beautiful set, and  an awesome cast.

So watch PD2 and see Ann Hathaway and Chris Pine before they were big stars.

Wild America

The Story: When eldest brothers Marty and Mark convince their parents to let them head west with thier film equipment, younger brother Marshall stows away is the back of thier van. From Netflix.com

This movie takes me back, way back. To like, the sixth grade. When Devon Sawa was a total dream boat and Johnathan Taylor Thomas was everywhere.

I fell in love with this movie as soon as it came out, but not just because of Devon and JTT.

Wild America is actually a really good movie. Its packed full of action and adventure. Plus, its a very relatable story about growing up. The Stouffer's have a hard time letting thier boys go, and the boys struggle to remember how much they need one another.

I definately recommend Wild America for family movie night, especially if you have younger boys. Its family friendly but doens't feel like you're watching a kiddie movie.

Here's a clip showing you just how crazy there brothers can be.

The Game Plan

There are only so many cartoons that I can handle watching a work, so I put this on one night. I ended up paying more attention to it then the customers. Since then I have totally loved this movie. Its completely family friendly and won't leave you in severe pain like Spongebob or Hannah Montana.

The story: A famously flamboyant NFL star finds out he has a daughter. She shows up one day at his doorstep with a note saying that her mother will be back in a month.

Not only is Dwane Johnson lovely to look at, but he is absolutely hilarious as the oh-my-god-what-do-I-do-with-an-eight-year-old new dad. The always fabulous Kyra Sedgewick and Roselyn Sanchez also star in TGP. These ladies are great in everything they do. But Madison Peltis absolutely steals the spot light in this movie. She plays Peyton, the daughter, and is constantly putting The Rock in his place. Madison displays talent far beyond her years. I'll  be keeping my eye on this little one.

Chicken Little

I'd like to thank Anthony for re-introducing me to this outstanding movie! It always puts a smile on my face. I will now be watching Chicken Little at least once during my shifts at the Buster.

CL is your basic "end of the world" story. Aliens are invading earth and it's up to Chicken Little, a very unlikely hero, to save the day. Mix in some great music (Spice Girls, YES!), a rag tag group of sidekicks voiced by Joan Cusack and Steve Zahan and you've got one film that you will not be able to get enough of.

If that doesn't have you convinced, check out this clip of Fish's greatest moments. He's my favorite character.

Megamind

I finally saw Megamind last night! I've been waiting on that one to hit the Buster's shelves since I missed it in theaters. I was not disappointed.

The childish laughter that came out of my mouth during the viewing was both embarrassing to me and annoying to Allie.

Here's a clip.
