The Kill Point

The Story: When a bank robbery goes wrong, the thieves lock down the bank. They will do whatever it takes to keep the cops outside and their hostages inside.

Thank you Spike TV for bringing me this wonderful series. Not simply because it has Donnie Wahlberg in it (LOVE him) but because it is an action junkies dream. Bad ass bad guys,  a hard nose detective who will do whatever it takes to save the day, explosions, gun fire, and double crosses. I also like seeing the robbery from the hostages point of view, because they don't all behave how I would expect.

If you like a good cops and robbers story then I know you will like The Kill Point.

Here is a link to the trailer on imdb.com . I would post it on here but my computer is hating me.

The Watcher

The Story: Burned out after failing to bust a sadistic serial killer in Los Angeles, FBI agent Joel Campbell retires to Chicago. But the killer refuses to leave the lawman alone, and begins furnishing new clues designed to drive him mad. from netflix.com

Before James Spader became the creepy new boss on the Office and before Keanu Reeves started making terrible, awful movies like The Private Lives of Pippa Lee,  came The Watcher.

TW had me at the opening sequence. Keanu is dancing and it's sooo creepy. It's a total warning of the craziness your about to see from him.  I could go on and on about how good he is in this movie, but you just have to see it for yourself. He does deranged serial killer like no one else, amazing!

Balancing Keanu's insanity is and FBI agent, James Spader. They are an excellent pair for this cat and mouse game. Spader is better known for his comedic roles, but this is definitely his best role. He's dark and self-destructive and somehow still a good guy.

Death Race

The Story: Ex-pro racer Jensen Ames has just been convicted of murdering his wife, and is being sent to the most vicious prison in the country.  How very convenient for Warden Hennessey to have another driver to compete in her prestigious Death Race

This is Jason Statham’s best movie. He looks amazing, kicks major butt, and totally nails this role. Like most of the other movies we like, Death Race’s casting is perfect. Tyrese is a total badass as Machine Gun Joe; and Joan Allen has ice water running through her veins as Warden Hennessey. All good movies hinge on their casting.

Nevertheless, we love DR for its gut-wrenching, no holds bar action. The things that they blow up and the way they kill people is amazing. The fight scenes alone are more intense than the usual Statham film. Now don’t worry, there is a plot and it will make you want Statham’s character to kill everyone that stands in his way.

This is by far the best action movie ever.

The Newtown Boys

The Story: Four Texan brothers ignite a crime spree in the 1920s, robbing more than 200 banks across the nation -- without ever killing anyone. In a career highlight, the unexpectedly compassionate team pulls off the largest train robbery in U.S. history. from Netflix.com

The Newton brother's is based on a true story. These boy's were robbing banks a few years before Dillinger and Pretty Boy Floyd made it a fad.

This is a great movie to watch with dad, or grandpa, or younger boys who are "too old" for cartoons. It's rated PG-13 only because of a bloody shootout (bloody for 1998) and a little bit of language.

The best thing about this movie is that it pulls off both a western and heist film beautifully. Albeit, a bit slowly. So, if your wanting an action packed ride you might be a little disappointed, BUT, nobody blows a safe like the Newton Boys.
